Delightful Dénia is an old town which has developed a modern cosmopolitan character whilst still maintaining its charm. It is located on the Mediterranean coast between Valencia and Alicante and enjoys average sunshine of 322 days a year.
Dénia is rich in history and culture dating back to medieval times and its turbulent history is the subject of many fiestas which are celebrated throughout the year. Fireworks and parades are often to be seen (and heard!) at the sea-front and along the main streets of the town. The festival of the Three Kings (at Christmas), the Fallas in March and the Bous a la Mar in July are just three not to miss!
Dénia is a party town! It is believed that it has more fiestas each year than ANY other town in Spain!
Why do we love Dénia? "Because it is a living breathing town! All year round!" Dénia & surrounding area
Out and about
If you like exploring then the towns of Javea and Moraira, with their pretty harbours, and lively Calpe, are all nearby. Each resort has a good range of facilities and activities for all the family including safe sandy beaches with the usual opportunities for water sports.
Set inland is the Jalon Valley - a fragrant visit in spring when the almond is in blossom. The Saturday market in Jalon is a favourite of ours. We are quite familiar with the area - if you have any special requirements or interests please do not hesitate to contact us. We want to make your stay special - please tell us how!!!!
The “Marqués de Campo”, one of the principal streets of Dénia, offers a multitude of shops and restaurants.
There are top of the range clothes shops with designer wear for both men and women and beautiful gift shops specialising in the unusual and exquisite.
Shoes, leather goods and toys are particularly worth shopping for!!
For more shopping - the new Portal de La Marina shopping centre on the outskirts of Dénia is full of top designer shops.
Dénia has always been a sea-faring town with its port and fish market selling the daily catch.
The quaint fishermens' quarter has beautiful small streets with hidden treasures of shops and tapas bars.
The many restaurants feature the fish and rice dishes that are the speciality of this area.
The new marina has clubs, bars, restaurants and is a hidden gem. We love it for lunch in the sun, in the evening for a meal or a cocktail, or for just a stroll as the sun sets. Lovely!!! Click small pictures to enlarge, click arrows to scroll for more pictures
